I have a BFA in Painting and Drawing with a minor in Engineering from The University of North Texas. I knew when I graduated High School that I wanted to do be an animator, but unfortunately there were few schools that offered animation as a degree in the late 80’s. So I signed up for North Texas' Fine Arts program and minored in Autocad. I did get to play with 3Ds v3, Autocad 9&10 (DOS) and a Cubicomp.
After graduating, I spent a year in New York working as a graphics monkey for Cantor Fitzgerald (One World trade Center). After only one winter, I decided to go back to school. Upon the suggestion online from Mark Sylvester, I went to Mississippi State. There I obtained my MFA in Animation and Multimedia from MSU. The program was terribly under funded, and understaffed, but I met some amazing people in Mississippi that I still call friends as well as a few very inspirational instructors that taught me the benefit of being an artist first, a technician second..
After grad school I moved to Dallas. Here I found and actively participate in an awesome community of artists (abosg.org). I have learned a lot and met many people in Dallas. I actively work towards bringing more work to Texas through my volunteerism at ABOSG and the TXMPA. I enjoy learning new skills, teaching others what I have learned and using what I know effectively. |
